📖 Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Epistle to the Romans 8:28
🌱 Hard Seasons Are Not Wasted
As we age, we carry stories.
Some are beautiful and light-filled.
Others were forged in deep valleys — illness, loss, disappointment, betrayal, financial strain, caregiving fatigue, or unexpected life detours.
Others were forged in deep valleys — illness, loss, disappointment, betrayal, financial strain, caregiving fatigue, or unexpected life detours.
Yet this verse reminds us of something profound:
God wastes nothing.
Not the diagnosis.
Not the heartbreak.
Not the delay.
Not even the years that felt lost.
Not the heartbreak.
Not the delay.
Not even the years that felt lost.
He weaves it all into purpose.
🔥 The Refining Work of Hard Seasons
Looking back over the decades, many older adults can say:
- “That season deepened my faith.”
- “I became more compassionate.”
- “I learned to rely on God instead of myself.”
- “I discovered strength I didn’t know I had.”
Hard seasons often:
- Strip away self-reliance
- Clarify priorities
- Strengthen resilience
- Increase empathy
- Refine our calling
Pain becomes preparation.
What once felt like devastation often becomes the very soil from which wisdom grows.
🌅 Aging With Perspective
One gift of aging is perspective.
You can see what younger you could not.
You recognize now:
- How doors closed for protection.
- How waiting built character.
- How suffering softened your heart.
- How God was faithful even when you couldn’t feel Him.
That is flourishing — not because life was easy, but because God was present.
✍️ Journal Reflection
Take 10–15 quiet minutes today.
Write about one past challenge and reflect on:
- What felt hardest at the time?
- What did you learn about yourself?
- What did you learn about God?
- How did that season shape who you are today?
- Where do you see God’s goodness now?
Sometimes the clearest evidence of purpose is only visible in hindsight.
🙏 A Prayer for Trust
Lord,
In seasons of confusion and pain, help me trust that You are working beneath the surface.
When I cannot see the outcome, remind me that You are faithful.
Thank You for shaping me through every valley and every mountaintop.
Use even my hardest stories for Your glory and for the good of others.
Amen.
